A Mount Sterling teacher has opened the state's first online privately owned
high school, hoping to reach hard-luck students from around the world.
Donna Johnson runs Providence High School, where students read, do assignments,
ask questions and take tests over the Internet. The school targets students
who otherwise might be forgotten by the school system, are dropouts or otherwise
might not receive the attention they need, Johnson said.
"It's an opportunity for many to get a second chance at life," she said.
